On-country tours
Our approach
Engage in a unique immersive cultural experience with the Mampulunya Kariyarra team as they guide you through the massive Pilbara landscape to millennia-old cultural sites that still have deep meaning and are in use today by the traditional owners of the land. We will design the experience around your timeframe and needs to give you the best insight into our connection to country.
Clients who have had the opportunity to get a closer appreciation of the connections between our cultural and natural landscape include FMG, Roy Hill, Town of Port Hedland and independent tourists.
Travel plans
Our professional cultural tours can include short half-day tours to multiple day overnight experiences. Tours typically depart from and return to Port Hedland, but we are certainly happy to be flexible should you wish to start or end the tour in different locations.
Most tourists and VIP business clients prefer to use their own vehicles or hire cars and follow our team convoy style. For overnight stays, this is ideal as we can choose a great camping spot for you to set up your gear. For larger groups on half-day tours, including business clients, we have a transport partner and can organise refreshments as needed.
You will see firsthand our cultural heritage, including rock art and areas of special meaning and be able to appreciate the ecology of local flora and fauna that we explain though storytelling and singing songs on country. By experiencing the land in this way, it’s like having a ‘cultural GPS’ of the country.
Bookings
Because tours need to be planned in advanced and in consideration of the seasons and traditional cultural events, we recommend you contact us to book at least 7 days ahead. We’ll discuss how long you’d like to be with us, what you prefer us to organise (e.g. transport and tucker) and anything in particular you’d like to see and do.
